Flying with Tigerair? WATCH THIS FIRST! | Tigerair Australia Trip Report | Sydney to Melbourne FLYERS BEWARE: Trip Report of my FIRST and LAST TIGERAIR AUSTRALIA flight - watch the video to learn why! This Tigerair Airbus A320 brought me from Sydney to Melbourne. It was my first visit to Australia and I had no idea what to expect from the budget airline. Quickly I learned that the flight wasn't going to be that cheap after all. Of course I could have done things differently to avoid these HORRENDOUS extra charges for my carry-on bag being to heavy. But at that point I didn't know they would even check the weight at the gate - and also of the fact that they were "counting peas"... my bag pack would have exceeded the (very low) 7 kgs limit by only 250 grams (without the 3 liters of water which I bought at the airport)... they made me pay 36,25 AUD extra at the gate! Now to the flight itself. The flight time to Melbourne would be 1 hour and 20 minutes. Since the aircraft arrived late we only boarded at our scheduled departure time. Onboard the cabin looked pretty ugly and the leg room was pretty bad. During the entire flight I could feel the knees of the person sitting behind me in my back! Ouch... The food which I pre-ordered online was okay - didn't expect anything more from a budget airline meal. After landing I got my luggage which luckily had arrived.
